There are a range of Health related services that are accessible to all. You may wish to use one these to support your needs or the needs of your child.

Hospital Services

The Great Western Hospital provides a range of out-patient and in-patient services for Swindon-based children and young people under the age of 18 with a variety of medical needs and conditions.

Services include support from the following professionals:

  • Dieticians
  • Physiotherapists
  • Children's outreach nurses
  • Children's pharmacist
  • Enuresis specialist nurse

General Practitioner

Your GP is your family doctor and is there to see your child if you have concerns about their health or development:

 

 

Children and Young People Clinics (Moredon & Swindon Health Centre)

The clinic cares for youngsters, toddlers and infants suffering from common colds, aches or pains but not life-threatening conditions, that are unable to get an appointment with thier own GP.
 
The clinic runs from Monday to Sunday between 8am and 8pm (8am to 4pm at the weekends).

Health Visitor

Health visitors are qualified nurses or midwives with specialist public health training. They are available to support you in pregnancy, once your baby is born and until your child becomes five years old. 

 


Pharmacist

Your local pharmacist or chemist has knowledge of everyday health issues. There are often pharmacies in supermarkets and many are open late.

 

 

NHS 111

NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day every day. If you are worried about your child’s health and are unable to contact your GP you can call 111 and get advice from trained staff.

Accident & Emergency Departments (A&E) and 999 should only be used in a critical or life-threatening situation:

 

 


Disabled Changing Facilities and Toilets

The Changing Places campaign was launched on behalf of those people who cannot use standard accessible toilets. Changing Places toilets have plenty of space and the right equipment, including a height adjustable, adult-sized changing bench and hoist.
